This guide provides information on the more popular substrates that we offer, which are suitable for most mounting purposes. Each material comes in several thicknesses and may have different color choices to choose from.
Art Board

This heavy cardboard stock is an economical mounting option and has traditionally been used for art prints and photographs. Due to the nature of this fiber based board some warping will occur, therefore, this choice works best in conjunction with framing.

Foam Core

This light density product is a polystyrene foam board sandwiched between two sheets of coated paper. The smooth clay-coated surface accepts ink-jet printing very well and the cost of this board is relatively cheap. However, foam core is considered vulnerable to wear and is intended for short-term use only.

Gatorboard®

Gatorboard is the more durable cousin of foam core and is designed for long term use. This high density board resists warping and is frequently used as a substitute to traditional framing. The rigid foam center is sandwiched between two layers of wood-based material resulting in a smooth finish that has great dent resistance.

Sintra®

This lightweight rigid board is made from PVC and is popular for exhibits that will be shipped often. Sintra has a satin finish and keeps a color that is consistent throughout the thickness of the board. The closed-cell structure provides excellent durability and water resistance, however, any outdoor usage should be short term.

Styrene

Styrene is a perfectly smooth plastic substrate that allows images to be used in non-flat configurations and rolled for easy shipping or storage. Our inventory contains thin white sheets that are warp-resistant and because it has no natural fibers, this material is great for outdoor applications.

Coroplast

Coroplast is an economical corrugated plastic material ideal for temporary outdoor signs. The hollow fluted design makes the plastic much lighter in weight compared to solid plastic alternatives. Coroplast has a semi-smooth, ribbed plastic surface which is completely waterproof and printable. Lasting up to two years, this cost effective material is suitable for virtually any occasion.

Plexiglass

Plexiglass is a common reference to acrylic material which is typically used for backlit graphics. Clear sheets of plexiglass are second surface mounted to a milky trans film, however normal prints can be mounted in this fashion too. Plexiglass eliminates the risk of shattered glass and is much lighter in comparison.

Polycarbonate

This is a stronger alternative to plexiglass and should be used where breakage is the biggest concern. Polycarbonate sheets are virtually unbreakable with 250 times the impact strength of glass and 30 times that of plexiglass. It has performed well in outdoor applications for up to 7 years.

Dibond®

Dibond is an aluminum composite material made with a solid polyethylene core. The machine-bonded sandwich construction produces a very rigid yet lightweight material that is half the weight of aluminum. The brushed metal finishes are the most popular among the many color choices offered .

MDO (Medium Density Overlay)

MDO board is an exterior grade plywood coated with a smooth waterproof veneer. This resin coated surface is bonded to the wood by heat and pressure to form a bond as strong as the wood itself. This product is ideal for any outdoor environment and is often used for real estate signs.

Magnetic Material

Magnetic material is a flexible magnetic sheeting that comes with a printable/mountable surface. Applications include vehicle graphics, advertising displays, educational aids, fridge magnets, bin markers, and much more. Magnetically receptive material is also available and is used to attract all types of magnets.

Lamination can protect and lengthen the life of your mounted images.
